I've been using Microsoft Money since around 2000 and it has definitely made my life a lot easier when it comes to my finances and budgets. I definitely recommend everyone use some sort of personal finance software such as MS Money, Quicken, etc.

I currently have MS Money 2003 Deluxe installed on my home computer and have practically not upgraded for about 4 years. I didn't go with 2004 because there were reports of it screwing up your Money file and so I carried on with 2003 till this day. From what I've read, there haven't been any significant feature upgrades in the recent versions to prompt one to upgrade, but always hating having old software I'm considering installing Money 2007. Of course, I'm looking for other options out there, especially since MS now disables all the online features after 2 years (forcing your to upgrade).

Does anyone recommend another software package that is better or comparable to Microsoft Money? I tried out Intuit Quicken, but really hated the "checkbook" look. I'm all about the interface, man.

I've been using Microsoft Money for 3 years and was completely happy with it until my bank (Rabobank) upgraded their online security features which are now incompatible with the MS Money 2006. I'm not sure I will risk buying MS Money 2007.

You can't download an MS Money file/export through Rabobank? Are they still using the same online banking system from the VIB days?

I have Sun Community FCU and they allow it, even though their online banking system is crap. I wouldn't mind being able to download my statements directly through Money, although you probably can with newer versions of MSM.

You can, but you have to do it directly from the bank's website and for some reason the numbers just don't seem right, and I can't figure out why.

I use Quicken, it's pretty good. I barely noticed I have Microsoft Money 2006, I'll try it out.

What version do you have and to what extent do you use it?

Anyone tried Mint.com or another online money management Web application? Mint is free, but your financial data is stored online, securely. Yet, it is bound to be hacked, considering Google was compromised a while back with their Gmail app.

I'm still using MS Money 2003 and hesitate to upgrade it, but hopefully Money 2008 can finally provide some worthwhile features that justify spending my money... hah! hee! hi! ho! huh!

Screw it. I signed up for Mint.com just to give it a whirl.

Nice, clean, simple and easy to use interface. Unfortunately Sun Community FCU is not supported by it, so that's a deal breaker. Although it comes in handy as a credit card aggregator so you can quickly see what kind of financial mess you've put yourself into.

I like the notifications and such, so that makes it quite useful.

What I really like is that it shows you what your current interest rate is, unlike most online credit card statement systems, keeping you aware if the CC co's are making another attempting at squeezing your wallet a little tighter with their greedy paws.

I'll still be using Money 2003 until I upgrade to a worthwhile version.
