I want your honest opinion. We live in a very small media market here in the IV. We have only one major newspaper in english and spanish both owned by the same company and we have three other small newspapers.

It is my belief that we need more alternative media here in the Imperial Valley that does not fall with the same old mentaily that we have been given by the IVP. The newsreaders of the imperial valley deserve something different that has never been done before and can compete in any market it goes.

My question to you is, what would you like to see here in the Imperial Valley in terms of publications?

would you like to have something on sports, entertainment, news?

What would you guys propose to improve our media market here in the Imperial Valley?

Aren't the majority of mainstream newspapers owned by practically the same company? If so, then I don't see the big deal with IV Press and Adelante being owned by the same co.

Do you prefer La Voz or La Cronica to step in here? That might not be a bad idea.

The best thing to do is for local media to continue to deliver information to readers by innovating and take advantage of new technologies. It doesn't matter who that is, but as long as the news gets out there, we're all good.

Sharing is caring.

That is such a political answer...

But hey, Los Angeles, San Diego and most other big markets have only one or two newspapers... Therefore theres no actual competition of news when it comes to newspapers.

Hey, I don't care where I get my news from. Whether it's the paper, TV, Internet, on the street... as long as it's fair and balanced...

Most media is owned by large groups, worldwide. I get all my news from the net.

My only rant is that Adelante is fucking yellow journalism, una mierda, just regurgitating the style of La Crónica and La Voz publishing stories on the capture of narcos and hoodlums.

alternate view on the issue: Newspaper is oldschool. Now is all about the internet. Where news come instantly. Newspaper information are not recent enough to compete with the internet sites (and u get opinion from multiple sources).

Funny how people are all ranting about having only one news source... Not that I am giving Kudos to IV Press but I’ve gotten a lot of information from them and for free... I haven’t bought an IV Press paper in years... any who guess that’s the only way of getting informed in Imperial Valley...

Anyone got suggestions about alternatives???
