Its official!
Mervyns will come to Calexico very soon. In one year to be exact has City Manager Ralph Velez said that this retail store will be located next to Food 4 Less here in Calexico.
Target is still on the radar but its going to take long for them to come. I hope that we see the next boom of business in Calexico very soon because I'm getting tired of El Centro eating all the cake.
Mervyn's will come in a year's time. |

The question then becomes, will Mervyn's maintain a store in EC or will it all move down to Calexico. |

| I think the current Mervyn's location will close because it is in a rundown shopping center and their sales are probably way down, maybe Miller's Outpost will follow them to Calecia. |

| Many of the shoppers in EC( Mexicali Norte) are from Mexicali and Mervyns will cash in from the proximity to the Swap Meet. Hopefully Target will have its new location in Calexico. We will wait for the new scoop from Radiodude. JC Penney, Garlans and Sam Ellis also has nice clothes for decent prices with good service. Shop local..... |

Last time I walked into Garlans about a year ago the prices were MSRP or higher.
Still, they do have some decent merch, but the staff there acts like they're located on Rodeo Drive. |

| I think that if Calexico would have gotten on the ball and beat EC in building a mall... there would have been a lot, A LOT of people shopping locally... tuff luck huh! |
