With the availability of Noche Buena, everyone seems to be interested in crossing some over into the US of A. Noche Buena comes in 12 packs, from what I've personally seen, and I believe the maximum quantity you can bring in is a total of 1 litro.

Who knows how this works? Does it have to be 1 litro in one bottle or can it be multiple bottles equaling 1 litro?

well i brought two 12 with me, i'm not to sure what would have happened if i would have gotten checked. For sure i know that it's one liter per 21 year old and the last time i crossed on foot in Agua Prieta and a friend bought a 6 pack and crossed it over and they said that was fine. there were like 3 of us i had a liter of rum, the other guy tequila and the last the six pack, so if you buy a 12 with one other person in the car you shouldn't have any trouble

I just got off the phone with an employee at the Calexico-based US Customs office and they've provided me with a definitive answer. Below are the restrictions for bringing in alcohol from Mexico into the United States.

One of these listed items is allowed* per person**:
  • 1 liter bottle of liquor (Tequila, Vodka, etc.)
  • 1 liter beer bottle (Tecate Caguama, Pacifico Ballena, Dos X Litro, etc.)
  • 3 ~12 oz beer bottles (Tecate, Pacifico, Dos X, etc.)

* Once a month
** Age 21 and up

Looks like I'm drinking them in Mex. I'm not running the risk of getting "busted" and having to spill out the beer myself.

I asked a guy that works for there today about this. I guess I heard wrong and the truth is closer to this 4-12oz bottles per person. But then again he said it all depends on the guy some dont reallycare if you're cool. He also said it's easier to cross it during the day rather than at night.
