There is a proposed Sludge plant to come here to the Imperial Valley. People are starting to oppose this plant because it will bring a lot of pollution to the Imperial Valley and have a lot of health hazards because of this plant.

What do you guys think about a sludge plant in the Imperial Valley?

I started laughing at a sign in Brawley that said, “we don’t want LA’s Sludge”. I personally don’t know how sludge plants work and what the whole deal about it is. All I know is that they want to build it near Niland and that north county is all up in arms about it…

I think that the sign that I saw also said, “Build it in Calexico!” just kidding…

I also don't know enough... so I wikkied:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biogas_powerplant

It all looks pretty good, I wouldn't mind it, except for the sulphur, which presumably can be cleaned right???

"Siloxane might be present in the biogas and must be removed prior to input in the gas engines, as it erodes moving parts. Hydrogen sulphide may also be produced in the process if there are high levels of sulphur in the biogas. The exhaust gas must be cleaned up, as sulphur dioxide is toxic."
