Laws reflect the majority, but not necessarily the views of all. The proximity to the border creates a different social acceptance to the lax application of laws. In contrast, go to the state of Utah and you'll see something different.

Are you saying that Calexico elite/politicians have corrupted all local newspapers? The truth is underage drinking is not a big deal here in Calexico. Not a story. Just like how you won't hear how the son of Mayor smokes weed up North.

I’m saying that it is not ok to break the law and have everyone just give a damn... your all for minors to drink alcohol, that’s fine, if you supply alcohol to minors that’s fine by me, but the minute you set up a store, you have to abide by the rules and the laws of the city and the state. It doesn’t matter if everyone is doing it... it doesn’t matter about how people don’t care... its all about the legality of the issue...

I really do not know where you got me talking about newspapers… please don’t quote things that I did not say.

What about parents that buy liquor to their children? Everyone knows an older bro, friend, or neighbor that can easily hook 16 year old up. Plus, if all else fails, cross the border. Remember Jetstop was closed down for repeated violations. Also, several stores around town have had their license suspended for breaking the law.

Again you can do what ever you want with your kids, you can even give them Meth for all I care… it still does not change the fact that these stores are selling alcohol to minors… no matter how much of a moral authority you think you are in Calexico, it is still illegal and there should be stronger fines about it.

I remember Prohibition in the USA 1930's. It was against the law to drink or sell liquor, wine or beer. What did all the good righteous law-abiding US citizens do? They went to Mexicali/Tijuana and got rip roaring drunk and became smugglers. Teens all over the world (Europe, Asia, South America) find ways too get high. Other countries/cultures don't get uptight about drinking and laws.
What's dangerous about the USA is our car culture and all the teens have cars. Other countries have very strict laws against drinking and driving.

Quote? I didn't see a quote. I made an inference from your previous post on this site. Plus, on this thread you posted the following:

Figures from both the store owners and the City...

This post can lead someone to believe that someone either in City Hall or with connections is keeping the story on the down low and/or fines to a quick slap on the risk. Simple question.

Anyone know what the fine is for 1st violation, 2nd, and so forth in this city?

How does it compare to comprable cities around the state? Against big cities?

Is there a way to see if they really paid the fine or did it just get a stamp of approval?

I'm going to report you man, it's not good to buy cigarettes for minors. Most people don't even know the problems that this cause, you may have contributed to your friend eventually getting lung cancer.
