Apparently Steve Hyman is from Palm Desert and he's Canadian. He is a real estate land speculator who buys agricultural property and tries to get the local cities- Calexico, El Centro, Brawley, Yuma to furnish water, roads, sewer so he can sell the land to home builders. Unfortunately his timing is horrible because we are in a real estate recession bubble and many houses are for sale or in foreclosure. $9.00 hour Wal Mart jobs cannot afford $300,000 houses.
Hopefully the ambulance donation comes with no strings attached but this is very odd that it remains anonymous and once again RADIODUDE gave us the straight scoop. |

Since Radiodude pointed out the donor was a developer by the name of Steve Hyman, are we to expect the City of Calexico to give his business any breaks or any priority in town?
The guy deserves a pat on the back for his contribution to the town, but does the city now feel obligated to give him incentives?
If this donor really is Steve Hyman then we need to keep an eye on any transactions he has with Calexico. Hopefully he donated the ambulance because he's profited from his ventures in town and not because he's looking for some Calexico kickback. |

| Um, I don’t think that people should only concentrate on developers building houses in the valley; they build a lot of other stuff... But yeah let’s keep an EYE on all this stuff... I haven’t been this excited about issues since the CLX FD wrenched the other ambulance... |

| I heard that he gave the ambulance for a break on Impact Fees or something like that. I heard it was supposed to be a big ambulance like the other one they have. I thank him for the gift, but it is not what was ordered or may I say promised to the CLX FD. |

| What's next, promise to buy Police Cars and donate KIAs instead of large sedans. Speaking of Police Cars, what's up with Robinson Ford winning the Bid and not delivering. I heard that they promised an eight week delivery and four months later still no new cars. |

During one of the past council meetings, someone stated they were on backorder. 2-3 months extra wait time is ridiculous. The city should have gone to a different dealership... Costco Auto.
RF now also carry Charger police cruisers, but it's a little too late for that now, ain't it? |

If this is the case, the city should have rejected the damn thing. Especially now that the donor didn't even give them the right one. |

Imagine of the city council is stupid enough to give a kick back for something that wasn't even bargained for, that would prove how incompetent they are if they can't even work out and undercover bribe. |

| After reading some of the remarks, I was surprised that not to many people realize the role this developer has on the council. This person has donated hundreds of dollars on campaign contribution for various councilmen now seated and/or will make money for others by buying A/C equipment for new housing developments. The ambulance will eventually become a tax write off or a impact fee discount. And the beat goes on. |
