I am honestly sick of hearing the cries of taking back Aztlan and California becoming a Mexican territory. You hear Mechistas and Mexicans in general making the call for our great state with the 8 largest GDP in the world to be given back to Mexico.
Well there's no need to regurgitate the ramblings, but here are just a few quick observations of mine as what the make-up of California would be like if it were to have remained a part of Mexico. (I'll add more as time permits.)
Economy
California's economy would be just as bad as Mexico's, if not worse.
The Golden Gate Bridge
This wonder of the world would never have been built. In fact, I'm not so sure if there would be large population in the Bay Area as I doubt Mexico would have ever discovered all the gold.
Yosemite
This great state park of ours would be in horrendous condition with nearly all red woods having been chopped down and wild animal life would almost be non-existent.
Hollywood
Doubtful the movie industry would have even started up here.
Coastline and Beaches
Think San Felipe, Rosarito, Ensenada... All a big freaking mess. One might argue that they would be more natural, which is possible, since California's population would be about a fifth of what it currently is now.
Silicon Valley
Do I have to say anything here? |

in politically correct terms if it were to happen, taking back Califaztlan would be given back to the Mexican government since the territority was under Mexico rule back in 1848. One of the main reasons Texas declared independence from Mexico ten years before had to do with the Mexican government not paying attention to those Northern territories that extended all the way up to parts of what is now Oregon, Utah, Colorado, etc -Aztlan. The central government in Mexico City did little or nothing to enforce Mexican government throughout these northern territories. Thus, we saw Texas emerge as sovereign state as the Lone Star State before it was incorporated into the union of the U.S. after the Mexican-American War. My point here is to demonstrate how Texas became independent and speculate that Alta California perhaps was headed towards the same direction. With "our great state with the 8th largest GDP in the world" who would not think of California becoming an autonomous individual state. We have everything here, specially agriculture whom we would have all raza work the land that has always belong to them. Thinking in terms of Beyond Aztlan, an independent California would be able to function and compete with worldy economies and prosper.
So, it is not so much of Mechistas and Mexicans but more of those Californios living here before the conquista who would be entitled. They wanted sovereignty and had little or no ties to the Mexican government. In the end, these Californios who owned big lands like the Berryessas up north and the Dominguez' down in Southern Cal just to mention a few, they all ended up losing their lands to the pioneers who came from the east in search for gold and a promising future. |

Sounds great! Then we can become completely caged in from Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and Oregon.
F AZ, NV + OR.
Then each of the 58 counties can become their own state, with each city becoming its own county and each neighborhood becoming its own town and each house/property becoming its own neighborhood and so on...
And once CA breaks off from N. America and floats into the Pacific Ocean, we'll tear down the fences and each border will be a beach. What was once Imperial Valley will be prime beach real estate! |

I don’t know if anyone has told you but if California does break from N. America, Calexico will be a peninsula and the rest of the valley would be under water.... ISN'T THAT GREAT! |
