I think it comes down to you're own interpretation on why Shaq was traded?
J.Buss didn't want to pay Shaq 80+ million or Kobe ran him out of town. |
It was a combination of both. Buss knew that he was going to lose at least one of his two money makers and decided (correctly in my opinion) to try to keep the younger star. If Kobe had signed with another team before Buss told Kobe he was going to trade Shaq, Shaq would still be a Laker. Buss obviously told Kobe that he was trading Shaq so Kobe would stay with the Lakers. Or why would Buss have even mentioned it to Kobe as Kobe says? |

They need better announcers for the Finals.
The best part of the game was the halftime clip of Pop & T.D. |

You'd think the NBA would want LeBron to have a better chance at winning games in the final.
That was obviously an intentional foul by Bowen on LeBron in the final seconds before shooting the 3 and the refs didn't call it. LJ was straight out demanding the foul on camera to the ref. He might've made the 3-pointer if not "fouled," but I doubt he'd have made three straight freethrows to take it to OT.
The officials F it up again. |

Thanks for that recap elchrist. I've watched maybe 5 minutes of the Finals this year. The Spurs are that good, and the East that bad. 75-72?
Just one question is Manu still floppin? |

Even though I'm not a huge Spurs fan or their style of play for entertainment purposes, they are still a great team. This was by far the best Spurs team. They had the Big 4. T.Duncan, T.Parker, B.Bowen, and M.Ginobli. People like to omit B.Bowen from the list, but he as good as D.Rodman was for the Bulls and Pistons. B.Bowen clearly bothers who ever he is guarding. It does show up on the stat sheet, but people forget to connect the dots.
Anyway, I expect the league to de-emphasize any defense next year. |

I think the most impressive thing about all of this is that Robert Horry now has 7 rings.
That's more than Jordan. |

How bout having NBA Finals with two teams from the West? The Finals didnt stir up anyting this year, boring announcers, boring games, all quiet. It was Lebron vs. the Spurs, it wasnt going to happen.
Parker is on cloud 9, "like a dream", NBA Finals MVP, multi-million dollar contract, marrying Eva Longoria...what else can he ask for? |
