Has anyone heard who the new Undersheriff will be once Loera starts as Sheriff for the Imperial Valley??? I heard the current Chief of Police for Calexico will be chosen by Loera as his Undersheriff......
Is it true the City of Calexico did not want to "work with Sanchez" regarding his retirement plan in order for him to stay as Chief of Police for Calexico ? ? ?
Who would be a competant candidate to replace Chief Sanchez ??? Is there anyone in the Police Department right now ? ? ? I mean the politics within the Department can't be any worse, or can they ? ? ?

| My guess would be Lt. Neujahr would be a front runner to replace Chief Sanchez. He's got the experience and has worked for CLX PD for a while. I don't know what his educational background is but he seems like a pretty sharp law enforcement official that patrol officers can benefit from. |

What does that mean? He wanted to retire and keep working, or what?
Is Chief Sanchez even like by the Council? He's been there years now... |

He's not from the Valley and he lives in Mexico. From what I heard, he is a sharp cop, but he has a red hot temper.
Heard he also has a problem interacting with the officers anyway and he has his favorites he'll "cover up" for. |

I don't think the Chief will go and work with Loera but I think he will stay here. There was a rumor at the beginning of the year that he was going to retire in December but it doesn't look that way. He might retire but it might happen in the next two years.
As per his succesor, it might be Neujar that takes his place but I believe the city will hire someone from out of town first and then give it to someone like Neujar or Legaspi in the long run. |

Is this Mexico? I thought the position should be advertised to select the best candidate. I think locals feel comfortable with the compadre system.
What do you think? Advertise or hand pick |

Advertise and select the least qualified candidate. Preferably one with experience in the LA riots of '92. Daryl Gates could fit right in as our new CXPD chief.
Alright, all kidding aside... This position needs to be advertised. It's too important of a role in the city to just have someone who's been under the current chief to inherit. Someone who is "hand picked" will be accustomed to the "old politics" of the department/city and the potential for change for the good would most likely not occur.
Chief Wiggins? |

| The archives of the IV Press - apparently Chief Sanchez had to sue the city for his position. I guess council gets intimidated when a local wants a position- they start thinking about extended family votes and they do not want to piss off the compadres, primos, etc. |
