Well how about this idea: Let's keep an eye on this position when it becomes available and let's not allow the people of Calexico to get screwed.
Mucho ojo. |

I am unable to SPECULATE who may be the new Chief or if the current Chief is actually leaving or not. There are some minor changes going on in the department but the crimes of the past have yet to be atoned for.
Regardless of whomever becomes or stays as Chief, I would mildly suggest that they uphold and enforce standards, discipline, training, seriously hold supervisors accountable for their actions/or lack there of and you could see a core of younger officer learn correctly, become more proficient and professional and take greater pride in their department. Thus leading to increased professional presence and morale.
But if a few "golden apples" continues to rot with out them being taken out of the barrel, well you'll continue to have what you've got now.
The undersheriff position was a peace officer status position that required alot of supervisory and professional education minimal requirements. I am not sure what the standard is now, but if The Sheriff wants, the Sheriff gets. The Sheriff needs to radically turn around the department, and I am sure that he has seen the product being produced here in CAX. You make the call. Besides, I believe that the Chief would not take a backseat to anyone, period. I could be wrong as it is a opportunity to double dip a retirement. It is a common practice amongst retired administrators.
I'm sure Lt. Nuejahr would like to be Chief, and I can see some of his "disciples" lining up for Sgt's and Lt's positions. I can only show up to see what happens next.
Stay safe. |

Rumor Killer: Chief Sanchez will stay one more year with the city of calexico before he retires. As far as he going with Loera that is false. Loera and Sanchez have a lot of differences and do not get along very well. Lets remember that the Sanchez is only a chief not a politician and Loera is more of a politician.
Sanchez is not leaving us for Loera, He will retire next year. |
