with all these houses and people moving into calexico there needs to good stuff for ppl to enjoy....

as others have said,

1) A nice park, not like super wow, but wow, u know what i mean?
doesn't really have to have patos and stuff, but a good place for ppl to hang around in and feel safe...especially since it is kinda cool at night these days i would like to walk in a nice park ....but, that will probably take time to build, and by the time it does, it might be summer and hot again, but it is a good idea...calexico has a few ok "parks" ....but, a nice one close to the victoria/meadows area will be nice for the community there....

2) sports bar, there are a lot in mexicali, but it will be nice to have in our home town too...for old times sake...

EC will have a nice Bowling alley, entertainment center, with dance floor and all by like th end of next year...and it is expensive to build one of those babies....and I do think most ppl who wants to bowling in calexico will not mind driving 15 min to EC..

Parks = Drugs, at least from my observation of the skatepark. They should build a new skatepark, and charge, and use that money to make events in the park such as gigs with bands from other cities.

Where’s your house?? Because dude... that’s way too vague...

no but really, we do need a real sports bar, and not one like bulldogs where they tried to make it into a bar/club/restaurant/pool hall/cholo hang out all in one. i remember bulldogs kicked us out on a sunday night in the fourth quarter of the sunday night football game because they were closing at seven or so. we need a bar where you can go watch every game you want
(football, basketball, soccer, hockey, ufc, pridefc, boxing). one that has varieties of beer, not just bud light and coors light.
a jetstop-like beer stop would be cool too.

You know I wish that Calexico would have had its own local bar. It would be nice to have a bar where people can meet to see the games and such…the only problem is that most wanna be bars end up creating the bar into a restaurant or a subsidiary of a restaurant. Calexico needs a bar where the only thing they serve is beers and appetizers, good one too!

In Calexico, those bars are located in people's houses, more specifically their front yards.

We do need a nice bar. With some selection of drinks and activities.

i would say a YMCA would be kick ass along with a well constructed skatepark like the one in San Diego.

My mom lives near Zapata, supposedly where the new park was to be built. La verdad- La pinchi ciudad did not require developers to pay for this park. Instead they got campaign donations and upgrades to the houses they purchased.

Exactly. Some councilmembers dont even care about recreation in Calexico. There has not been a park made in Calexico in over seven years and that is not a priority.

Ah, but when the intrest of the developer in in jeopardy some councilmembers act on the stop and do what developers tell them to do and they kiss up to them.

This fucking city is run by developers.

Now... now... don’t vent on this thread... you can do that on the "Calexico's Moving Backwards" thread... As of right now there’s only 7 post in support of the park… with as many as 205 and five views, 7 postings for the park is not a big number… I don’t think anyone of us can go to the city council and say “Calecia.com members want a nice park in Calexico”. Also if the developers really wanted to make money, they would also include parks with their developments… which would be maintained by the city… that way the reputation of the developers would increase… so I think that the city is the one that basically dropped the ball on this…
