Congratulations to Mr. Velez on his pay raise! He may well be worth every penny and then some. It is a shame though that the City still hasn't paid the public safety folks the raises that were negotiated and supposed to take effect almost six months ago. Seems to me that they signed contracts and shook hands on the deal - how can they spend money for something when they already have overdue obligations? No offense intended to Mr. Velez, but this is simply wrong. Sheriff Ray Loera refused a pay raise until his employees get brought up to speed and that wasn't even an issue of already negotiated pay raises. Now that boys and girls was a class act. This isn't.

Of course that's my opinion and I could be wrong.

Nah.

and we wonder why cops leave? Because they are constantly having to battle city hall for things that the city has already agreed to, and then city amazingly "forgets" that they had a contractual agreement.

These are the types of actions that lead the POA to sue the city,...Again. (In case you didnt hear, the POA successfully sued and won the violation of constitutional rights case against the city)

I can see a civil lawsuit on the horizon. The city has been negligent in honestly addressing the ewing study agreement. Stand by city of Calexico for February 7th. It will be the day of atonement, or the day of reckoning. Shocked

"Thats the word on the street."

February 8, 2008, starts the Chinese New Year of the RAT. Is there some irony here, or what?
