I like Japanese food.
Sadly, in the valley there's only one Japanese restaurant and that's Kyoto's in the Ocotilla Plaza in El Centro. Personally, I think this place is OK, but it's not good enough for me to frequent.
So I go to Sakura in Mexicali. Located on Lazaro Cardenas, Sakura has to be the best Japanese restaurant here. Everything, from the food to the drinks, is delicious. They have a wide variety of sushi and rolls, plus their dipping sauce is the bomb-biggity. Service and atmosphere is excellent as well.
I've also tried many of those little fast food Japanese eateries and haven't found one that's good enough to go back to. Cochinita, Unikko Sushi, and a list of others don't compare to the quality of food and service at Sakura.
Anyone found any good Japanese restaurant alternatives? |

I forgot to mention that Sakura now has what they've named Sakura Express. I'm not sure if they deliver inside of Mexicali, but they have a much larger selection of sushi and California rolls with some Mexican fusion thrown in (e.g. - rolls like: Mexicali, America, Chivas). My current favorite are the Geisha rolls, which are eel with teriyaki sauce.
Plus last time I was there they had a 2 for 1 beer special, so we got loaded on Bohemias (originally MX$25). It's perfect... you can eat, drink and smoke in a nice environment. |

i recently checked Kyoto out. i liked the food. i only had two problems with it. one:the menu was too small. two:they didn't have inarizushi. that stuff kicks ass!
i do plan on checking out sakuras the next time i get a brake from work. |
