Is your supermarket really out to get you?
Consider the case of Robert Rivera, a 62-year-old retired tow-truck operator in Los Angeles who in 1995 slipped on a carton of spilled yogurt in his local supermarket, shattered his kneecap and filed a lawsuit against the store (later dismissed by the judge for lack of evidence). During a discovery session, Rivera claims, a lawyer for the store threatened to air his buying habits. "He said they had information that I buy a lot of alcohol," says Rivera. "I shop at lots of different stores in the chain. There's no way they could have known that unless they used my club card information."

The other day I was over charged at the Calexico Wal Mart. One item by .60 cents and the other item by $1.00. The only reason I caught it was because I usually keep a mental note of how much I am spending and it seemed a bit higher. I brought it to the cashiers attention who told me that the posted price was wrong.
No No my friend....I asked for the manager, which I did not get, and I had to walk her over to show her the posted prices. The corrections were made and everything was alright in my universe.
The way I look at it, a lot of customers don't bother to check their receipts and the store makes out like a thief. By the end of the year that $1.60 adds up to a pretty penny. |

I've had people call me a cheap bastard for checking my receipt and complaining about any pricing mistakes.
The way I see it, I'm getting ripped off and I don't care if it's one cent or one hundred dollars. |
