I went to the Wal-Mart in El Centro today, and as I was walking in, I saw something that kind of disturbed me.
There was one of those guys that stand outside of Wal-Mart asking for money for needy children. As annoying as these guys usually are, that's not what disturbed me. What disturbed me was the way the guy looked. He was some big fat cholo looking guy standing outside the exit with a bell.
I started thinking to myself, "Well, the standards for recruiting these guys sure have gone down." Maybe it's just that I'm used to seeing wholesome looking guys or gals asking for donations.
Well, decent looking or not, I don't discriminate. I feel everyone is equal, so I gave this guy the same treatment I would give anybody in his shoes. I walked by him in a steady pace looking downward in an attempt to seem so busy that I just happened to not see them.

Do these people get paid for doing this? I'm sure they do, but in order to maximize their charitable donations, maybe they shouldn't have people standing around asking for donations while they're getting paid.
I don't see them getting a lot of donations through out the day, so why not just a deposit safe box with a description of the charity (and suitable marketing materials) that people can just use? I know I sometimes "don't see" these people either, but if I was going to donate some money, I'd do it at will. Maybe the majority feels the same way? |

Now, if the cholo was replaced by a chick sporting a cut off shirt and had an above average rack, would you look busy.
I bet the brother could spare some change.
It's all about marketing and location. Just look at Hooters. The girls are ugly and the food suck, but you get countless of guys stopping in for a 'beer'. |

Actually even if I wanted to, I couldn't have. I never carry cash with me. The world is so much easier with debit. Hmmmm, when do you think the donation people are going to start accepting debit and credit? All they need is one of those little machines out there.

Yea and don't carry travelers checks, cause nobody in the valley would take them. "Travelers checks...no ese we dont take traverlers checks" or "what are those?" On the commercials you see fucking islanders wearing grass skirts and bones through their noses taking travelers checks! What the hell...ese!

This Veterano came in my work yesterday, asking for money. He had this whole elaborate story as to why he needed the money and exactly how much he needed. It was straight out of the movie "Falling Down." He was "homeless" right now because he was stuck in Calexico and he had to get back to Bakersfield. His car broke down, so he needed to take the bus. He was exactly $4.20 short of the $21 ticket price. His twitching was making me nervous. So I went ahead and gave him $2 so that he could go shoot up some heroin.
It is the Holiday Season. |

I liked the 4.20 part. What ever happen to just asking for some spare change.
Why is it they always need gas, but there car is no where near in sight. About a month ago, on 2nd St SD, I was pumping gas at Texaco and this crack head came up with a simliar story. I just hook them up with some spare change, or maybe 1 dollar bill so I won't have to hear the damn story.
Crack is a beautiful thing. |

To Verbal: The reason people ask for a specific amount rather then just some spare change, is that people are more likely to give them money if they ask for a specific amount because it makes their story a bit more "believable". Social Psychology class helped me not give people money  |

Oh yeah talking about chairty a have a good one about "our jefe" elchrist.
we were at Ocotlan eating some tacos and shit. And you know when it was open the guy in the wheel chair would sing and some kids would ask for tacos or to buy some gum and shit. Well anyway, this kid comes up to elchrist, but this kid didn't look as glue sniffing as the rest you know he looked hunger. So he asks us for some money right or if we wanted gum i'm no to sure, Any how elchrist tells this kid, "well, do you have change for a hundred" What a jerk! I just wanted to share this little story about
"our jefe" during this giving season we can all learn something from him. |

Social Psychology?
So did this class meet both requirements, one for Soc and one for Psych?
I just remembered that Soc, Psych and Comm classes ruled. Easy and full of hotties. |
