I just called up SBC at 877/SBC-DSL5 (options: 3, 3, 1) and was given the offer. Apparently you need to have some certain additional features/services on your local telephone service, which I didn't, to qualify for the promotion. I went along and signed up for the additional services that were required and am now receiving DSL service for $29.95 a month under a one year contract.
Once I've received my telephone bill, I'll be cancelling these services I signed up for since you continue to receive the DSL promotion until your contract is completed, regardless of what services are available on your phone. Pretty much, you just need to have the additional services available during the moment you are asking for the DSL promotion.
Thank you ElWusso for checking out Web sites that I stopped visiting 3 years ago. You |

You have to add some extra features to your phone service in order to get this deal, though.
I have to pay ~$7 more on my phone bill to save the $10 on DSL, so my total savings are ~$3 a month. Fuck it, it adds up, you know? Had to pay ~$4.50 to activate the new features, as well.
You MUST keep the features on your phone for the entire year, otherwise your DSL cost goes up to regular price. I confirmed this with 4 different CSRs and 1 manager. |

What's the big deal? Unless you have a "bare-bones" setup for your local telephone service, you still get yourself a deal. Whether it's $3 or the same amount, you end up getting more services on your phone. You'll just need to remember to make some changes or apply for a new promotion once the contract is up.
Now if you don't use your phone at all, then simply forget about it. |
