Spic-ole, let me break it down to you this way. Students know that test scores don't affect their own grade and shit. So they don't give a fuck how they do on them. Come you fucking remember the CTBS test, the day you found out it didn't really effect your grade you stoped re-reading the fucking questions you just did it to get it done with.

And elchrist stop your fucking complaining about teachers wanting 50 grand a year. Some do get that much already. If you fucking think it's such a great gig then become a teacher. They are asking for money cause they know the district has it,

Another thing, if you know anything about teaching you know that teaching to get good test scores doesn't help out anyone. It just makes it easier for the state to see how you are doing! Think about it if you want good test scores you have to get rid of other class to have classes that teach how to pass a fucking test! It's already happening with the exit exam.

Finally, you do realize the amount of people who come from mexicali and don't speak english well, they take the same test. Of course it's going to drop the fucking scores.

And FUCK YOU if you even think that they have no business here. The fact is they are here,

Teachers, don't you realize that governor Gray Davis has unveiled ~$10 B in budget cuts ($1.7 B from education)!? That means you're all fucked. If I were you, I'd get my ass to work on time and be glad I have a job.

Mars, do me a favor, print this reply and show it to some teachers. Let's see if you or they can understand it.

Yeah, I remember taking them, and I remember doing pretty damn well on them too.

I know other students may not care they way I used to, but that's the teacher's fault. They don't care about those tests either. They pretty much tell the students to hurry up with them so they can get them out of way.

The good students care about tests. Even insignificant tests like CTBS. And the bad students don't. The trick is, to turn as many bad students as you can into good students. And if you can't do it, stop bitching, get another job.

The complaint is that the teachers want more money, but they don't deserve it and the test scores show that. For whatever reasons. Teachers jobs aren't to make excuses as to why their students don't do well in school. Their job is to teach them to the best of their ability, and their ability doesn't seem worth the pay.

When the teachers start giving some results, that's when I'll agree they deserve a raise. Not now.

Man, you obviously don't get what I or we trying to say...

The teachers who are getting paid these amounts have years of experience, regardless of being good or not. Many young teachers start off being enthusiastic about their job, but eventually just looks towards retirement.

The district may have money, but that money isn't just to pay the teachers. There's buildings to build/repair, technology to implement and support, and probably tons of other costs that have already been budgeted for. Teachers need to think about that for a minute, especially when the shitty computer they bought at Costco or Wal-Mart has failed on them and they're bitching about no one being around to fix it.

WTF are they doing this for then? Teachers should be striking over issues like this, not just about their paycheck.

If you can't rate a teacher's performance based on their student's performance, then how do you rate them?

Can you imagine the caliber of student our schools would produce if these teachers were as passionate about teaching as they are about getting a raise in pay?

True that. Some have more passion for money than teaching.

If you go into teaching you should know it's not for the money. Teachers are grossly underpaid, and every one knows that. Thus, if you go into teaching don't start complaining.

Also, most teachers start complaining because their the idiots who can't keep a good budget. They immediately go buy an expensive SUV, or go buy a house were they have to drop over 1700 for rent alone. Know how much you make and how much you can afford.

Don't worry the state will come in and do the right thing: CLOSE THOSE DAMN SCHOOLS.

Most terrible teachers will be fired. That's a good thing.

We do have to admit, this district has a lot of bad teachers that don't deserve their paychecks.

Some of them can't speak English.
Some of them don't care.

I think most teachers give up after 6-7 years of teaching. They get demoralized by how bad students are. The one's that keep going are the solid and good teachers. The Mr. Ordunas, and Ms.Tittles. They still have passion for teaching.

While the Mr.Larson's of the world, there in it for the sex.

it's funny to think that teachers want to get into it for the money. if that's what it's about to them, they picked the wrong profession. i want to be a teacher, and yes i'd like to return to Calecia to teach. it's not because the money is good, but because i want to make a difference in the community. calexico needs a real ass kicking when it comes to education. those teachers that had the sick out are a bunch of assholes. all that sick out tells me is that they told the kids (students) to go fuck themselves because they want money more than students. that is inexcusable.

the state wide tests do measure how the district is doing. that's how the district gets money. if you get rid of those tests, how will the district get the funding to better teach their students?

mars brought the point about the students that come from mexicali and how they fail these tests. that's true. that's why the school district does not want these kids to come here. not only that, that's why our schools are over crowded. as a matter of fact, i was just recently told by a cousin in mexicali that a 1st grader down there is already learning multiplication. they sure as hell aren't here. seems like education is better over there than here. the state wide test is not going to cater to somebody that lives in another country and comes to an american school district illegally.
