Mexico City Unveils Computers-For-Guns Program

Under a quirky new idea to curtail rampant crime in Mexico City, Mexicans are being encouraged to exchange their weapons for computers.

Authorities in one of the city's 16 districts are offering a new computer, out of 150 donated by a charitable foundation, for each gun handed in.

Shootings are a daily occurrence in Mexico City, a sprawling megalopolis of 18 million people where mugging, carjacking and kidnapping are common.

Not a bad idea, but the city will need to throw in some free Internet access so they can keep the criminals minds off crime by checking out porn. But then again, rape crimes may increase.
