It's always a sad day when the Imperial Valley must play catch up with Yuma.

The Imperial Valley will never be able to bring in major companies without taxpayer money. |

I'm sure you're all aware, but the opening of Target has been delayed from October 8th to possibly March 2004. The shopping mall has been delayed from who knows when to who knows when in 2005.
Unbelievable. |

I know a lot of people that were hired on at Target...I guess they'll remain unemployed for a few more months. |

the city claims it's because of the safety issues that come from the intersection, or lack there of. and the target people say they just happened to get stuck in the cross-fire of the two lawsuits that are facing el centro. |

Businesses will be moving in during October. The most notable will be Big Lots, which will start bringing in merchandise for its store in mid-October and will open in November, in time for the holiday season, Duggins said. Big Lots will be just west of JCPenney.
Little Caesars, a pizza restaurant, will be opening to the far east of the plaza along Imperial Avenue likely before the year's end. Negotiations are moving forward with Starbucks to open a 1,500 square-foot coffeehouse along Imperial Avenue in front of JCPenney.
