|
|
So maybe most of you missed this news, but on xmas eve one of the ambulances that calexico has ran into a car who did not wait for the ambulance to pass by... yes it was that cars fault because the ambulance had the lights and the siren on... but that is not scarry stuff...
it all boils down that Calexico only has one working ambulance today... and it will probably stay that way for a month at least...
What do you guys think??? |

That's too bad, but great coverage by Treinta_Maņanas. I salute you.
So if it was the other driver's fault, then the ambulance should be repaired under their coverage and not the Calexico FD's, right?
Oh wait... let me guess... the driver at fault didn't have car insurance.
Was anyone injured? |

Yes it was the truck driver's fault.. so yeah his insurance company is going to be pretty upset... never the less you guys are going to have only one ambulance for the whole city for at least a month... and that is if the truck driver dosent declare bankrubsy... because if this thing lands on the cities budget.. you know what will end up happening...
my whole problem with the ambulance issue is that these abulances are equipt with so much stuff that you can set up a little triage area around them... why the hell do you need so much equiptment when most of the time, its not even used...
I mean the city goes and buys a 200k ambulance that well its nice and everything but with that amount they could of bought 4 of those ambulance vans... so instead of having only one working ambulance right now you guys could of have three working ambulances right now... |

I'd rather have 1 ambulance come rescue me or my family with too much equipment, than 3 or 4 ambulances with not enough! This mentality of saving nickles and dimes is old school Calecia thinking. It's what keeps getting the city in trouble with litigation. Let the fire department outfit their employees with the tools they need and let it go at that! |

good, tell that to whom ever dies because theres only one ambulance... plus you have no idea what type of equiptment the other ambulances have... but yes the old school mentality saving a dime is alive and well in city hall... thats why this crashed ambulance will stay out of service for probably a good time... |

Why would the repair of the ambulance take long when it is not on the city's dime?
Does anyone know if the ambulance is just sitting somewhere not being repaired? Was the fire department issued a rental?... |

If you have ever been on an accident and had your car repaired like me, you know that it takes at least a week for the car to be repaired... the second thing is that since its the valley, every part has to be mailed in... The ambulance is currently in one of those repair shops in calexico...
Also the insurance issue takes a couple of days, so I am guessing that by previous expiriences with accidents the ambulance will be fixed in at least 3 weeks...
I do not know if the fire department will get a loaner... but i am pretty sure that they wont... i mean its not like you can go rent an ambulance at the local hertz or budget |

You would think that a vehicle such as an ambulance would be a higher priority for collision repair businesses, but it's likely that this is not the case.
What repair shop?

I think this is acceptable, as long as the people of Calexico don't go into a state of panic.
The holidays are over, so there's now a lot less traffic accidents on the road. December was horrible on the 111 and Cole Rd. which practically had a rear-ending every day after 5 o'clock.
Best thing people here can do is keep the Gold Cross emergency number handy in case the city isn't capable of handling their request. You have to look out after yourself and not expect everyone to have your back every once in a while.
