Calecia.com members will be climbing El Centinela / Mount Signal this Thanksgiving weekend on Saturday, November 26, 2005.

If you are interested in joining the climb, add yourself to the list.

We are seeking a few volunteers with pick-up trucks and real SUVs to ride towards the bottom of the mountain and the rest will be on foot.

If you're coming along, bring plenty of water and sunblock, plus optional sunglasses and a cap/hat. We will be taking up some additional "beverages" as well.

The climb is planned for early morning at approximately 8:00 AM, with everyone meeting at the AM/PM on Highway 98 (west Calexico) at 7:30 AM.

If everyone is in decent shape (i.e. - doesn't wear waist size 40 or higher) we should be at mountain top by 10:00 AM.

We'll be spending about an hour or so up top and the descent should take much less time. Expect about 10 minutes if you roll all the way down.

I'm definitely in.

We should take some Power Bars or something to munch on and give us energy (peanut butter sandwich?)

So what time and where is the meeting place? I suggest we start real early, bout 7am, so the sun won't be out on the way up. But first we need people with pickups, we should meet somewhere where it's safe to park the cars.

Seems like we have a bit of a scheduling conflict with the climb. It'll be one of the climbers' birthday on Saturday and they don't want it to put a hamper on any of the partying.

I say we just party once we're on top of the peak and continue on through the night, but looks like we have to reschedule for:

Saturday, December 3, 2005

Does that work for all the climbers?

The 3rd works out better, I had forgotten I have a wedding this coming Saturday, and I didn't want to hurry back to shower/change.

So hopefully this gives you enough time elchrist to find out how to get to El Centinela on the Mexicali side.
