So hopefully this gives you enough time elchrist to find out how to get to El Centinela on the Mexicali side. |
Why do I always have to drive? |
i'm guessing becuase you're the basic leader or one of them... "with great power comes great responsibility" |

If everyone is in decent shape (i.e. - doesn't wear waist size 40 or higher) we should be at mountain top by 10:00 AM.

i guess that eliminates me |

Good thing we didn't go this past Saturday afterall, it would've sucked going up there with all that wind.
I'm in for this Saturday, and we better do it cause it's gonna get too cold pretty soon. |

This should be common sense, but don't wear a turban for the climb. Otherwise if Mexican soldiers are in the vicinity, we might have a "man down."
Just spoke to a BP (who's on C.com) and they said they don't do anything to "hikers." The Mexican Army is a different story. I was planning on even taking my passport with me, but that's a little too overboard.
Any other tips? |

Make sure you all leave a list of hiker's names with Grupo Beta, so that they know who got eaten by the others when ther rescue you two weeks later. |

I've talked to a few people now about climbing Mt. Signal and it seems like the best thing to do might be to actually go through the Mexico side by driving into Mexicali.
We need to reach some towers next to El Centinela and start off climbing near/next to a large water pipe. There will be various red and blue/green arrow signs pointing towards paths, so it's a bit easier.
Apparently the way down can be very time consuming if you come down a wrong path (dead end) because you'll need to climb back up to take another path down.
Overall, it doesn't appear to be too difficult. If your in decent shape you can keep up with everyone and the climb could take anywhere from 2 to 3 hours to do.
Since we're most likely going through Mex, we can stop and eat some birria for power. |

| I forgot to mention that this month a large group of people are going out to the Wind Tunnels/Caves near Ocotillo for a hike. It sounds pretty interesting, so some of us might have to tag along. |
