Hello, I am from out of town and am looking for a upscale restaurant with a private area to hold a dinner meeting. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for the help!

What city in the Imperial County are you planning to have your dinner meeting?

First of all, in my opinion, there really aren't any upscale restaurants in the Imperial Valley. If Mexicali, Mexico (south of Calexico) were an option, I could recommend a few, but I assume that it is not.

Here are some options:

Calexico:
(none)

El Centro:
Brunner's Restaurant
I've been there for a business meeting and it seems to cater to business people with its private areas, but I would not remotely call it upscale.

China Palace Steak House
This place serves real good food, but doesn't necessarily accommodate large groups. If your party is less than 10, then you might want to go there.

Japanese Restaurant Kyoto
No where near upscale, but the only Japanese restaurant in the Imperial Valley. The food is good, but not great, although if you're looking for something different this could be an option. There is no sushi bar here.

Victoria Rose Tea Room
I've never been here, but the owner made it sound pretty interesting. The previous restaurant at this location had a banquet room and I assume that it still exists. It's also supposed to be a in a private setting, but I would think more of a romantic setting. Not sure about dinner either, so you may want to call if you're looking to romance your clients.

Brawley:
Aspen in the Desert
The common eating area is very wide open, but they do have a conference-type room that you can use. The food is very good and the cooks/chefs appear to be trained in the culinary arts. This might be the closest to upscale in the valley.

Assaggio Italian Restaurant
Very good Italian food for the area. The setting is a bit private and I have seen businesses have meetings inside. Could very well be an option if you are in Brawley.

Thanks for your help. I'm looking for something in or around the El Centro area. It doesn't have to be very upscale, just not something like a Denny's or McDonald's. I'm going to look into a few of the options you listed.

Oh, come on. The guy is asking for help and here you are trying to lure him to your job so you can get yourself a tip.

If upscale isn't a real issue, then I'd recommend Tortilla Soup because of its location at Hollie's (and the bar next door) or else Potrillo's because of the possible availability of the second floor.

I would suggest The Town Pump in Westmorland. They have a confrence room and the food is very good. Plus, they have a full service bar.
