My job takes me to Niland a couple of times a week and thanks to me forgetting to take lunch one day, I discovered a Mexican/American food restaurant there called Ballestero's. I ordered a carne asada burrito and found it to be quite good. The burrito is comprised of thinly cut carne asada, beans, and mexican rice. Much better than (the Calecia.com consensus for overrated carne asada burritos) Johnny's. I highly recommend it.

So if you're ever going on a trip to L.A. (through the Coachella Valley), I recommend that you take 111, through Niland, stop at Ballestero's (located on the west side of Highway 111, at the end of town), and try one of their carne asada burritos for yourself.

"My Brothers Place" in Calipatria is pretty good. Just make sure you order about 20 minutes before you get there since service is slow. I recommend the Caldo de Res on Modays.

Yeah, they have tortas, too. I hear their hamburgers are good, also.
