I know I'm gonna get a lot of shit for this, because everyone thinks this is a great restaurant, but one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at in the Valley has to be "Guadalajara's in Calexico.
I haven't gone here in years, and I hate going to this place. The food there is ok, but for some reason, everytime I eat there, without fail, I get a nasty case of diarrhea.
If I never eat there again, I'm fine. |

Guadalajars does indeed suck, but as it was posted some where else if you want good mexican food i suggest D'polys they have pretty much everything you could want, i'm a breakfast guy so i like order that at any time during the day
One time at guadalajaras i order sopes, they where the worst thing i ever had, the sope it self was made of some sort of craker type dough it wasn't good |

I don't remember ever eating there, maybe when I was a kid with my parents, but I've heard the same from a few other people. I'm not sure what it is, maybe improper food preparation?
What's their restaurant health rating? (A, B, C, D, F) Do we even have that system in place here in this county? |

Another place that was really bad is the jack in the box by the border. Everytime I walk into that place, I immediately feel dirty, like they haven't clean the place in years. The dim lighting doesn't help either.
The service is ok, and it's jack in the box, so the food is good. But damn the environment sucks. You can barely walk comfortably since the place is always packed and most of these people just went shopping in downtown Calexico so they have a shit load of bags thrown all over the place.
Does anyone have any other restaurants they think people should avoid? |

One place people should stay out of is Ocean City, chinese food in Calexico. The cheap prices lure you in there but the table clothes feel greasy and shit, and they have hole in them. I once read that if you couldn't see through your iced tea it was made with an old filter or is old itself. This places has iced tie that looks like a fog storm in Salinas!
I've gone in there a couple of times because i felt like chinese but i was broke. Now i'd rather make Mr. Tasty's "pizza" creations. |

The building where Guadalajara's is has been many things over the last 15 years. You may have eaten at the building when you were a kid, but it wasn't Guadalajara's. The restaurant before was a seafood place. |

| When I'm in Calexico I never eat mexican on this side of the border. Why not just go across the border or go home and eat... probably better anyway. |

You're right, but it sometimes takes over an hour of waiting to get back across. This time of year, it's even hard to go cross into Mex. Right before the Sept. 11 thing, the line was taking like 15 minutes max. I was going almost everyday to eat tacos, at that time. Now it's such a pain in the ass, that I dread even thinking of going. |

Ahh yes, those where the golden days of tacos, I too was going to eat almost four times a week. I have the waist line and chloestrol levels to prove it. |
