| I think that since they are building a tech center in Calexico over at the Carnegie Library, they should also consider having the entire city wifi... the residents and everyone who would want access to the city would pay something ridiculous like 15 bucks a month for high speed internet... What do you guys think??? |

I've proposed this idea before on here, but no one seems to have any interest in it.
If wireless Internet access could be given at the lowest cost possible (free access to limited resources) and then piggyback on this plan by offering residents with low cost computer systems (desktops or laptops) that are wireless ready, then the city would prosper.
If Intel would have officially named the Centrino chip Calexico instead of just code-named it Calexico, I believe there would have been a marketing possibility for the micro-chip maker to launch their product here and implement this project.
Anyway, that's in the past and probably unlikely.
Calexico needs to innovate. |

Alex Perrone (mayor) is (co-)owner of the Smart Cafe in Calexico, which offers (wireless) Internet access to its customers, at a cost.

Smart Cafe?? where is that?? and well maybe thats the reason why starbucks hadn't been located in calexico till this year...
hey starbucks also offers wireless but im guessing that they are far more expensive than what Mr. Perrone would be... |

Actually, starbucks in Calexico is one of the few starbucks that does not offer wireless and i don't think they are planning on offering it. I actually have a T-Mobile account because of my crazy traveling habbits and i was really disappointed when i found out this particular starbucks did not have acces.
So neat less to say my visits to Calecia are internet free. |

Speaking of puro chisme. You blame Alex Perrone for the delay of Starbucks and because he offers wireless internet. So if Alex Perrone had a bookstore would that mean that he is doing his influece to keep Barnes & Nobles out of Calexico?
You guys talk, talk, and talk without showing facts or evidence that supports that Alex Perrone doesn't want Wi-Fi in Calexico. Or is it that you guys are making this up?

I was being facetious...
I have no problem with Alex Perrone and him setting up an Internet cafe was great because one didn't exist before in Calexico, that I'm aware of. So props to him.
But if he did setup a book store in Calexico, then I'd say that he would be making all attempts to block out B&N, Borders and yes even Amazon.com!!! |
