Here is the inside story on the new Cingular Wireless store in Calexico.
The council did approve the lease for Cingular on First Street. I told you that the store might be located on First Street due to the fact that the city began negotiating a property on first. I assumed that the store was going to be in front of the old Pronto Market because the business that was located on that building is no longer there. Locoinclx was right, the building was severely damage by the rain and it might be condemn. The Cingular Wireless store will be part of the new development near food4less joining the new breed of business like Starbucks, Subway, Little Caesar and so on. What Cingular was negotiating on First Street was the location of one of their antennas.
Their antenna will be located next to the Water Tower on First Street. We all have seen that tower if you live in Calexico or when you cross the border. The other three antennas will be located in different parts of the city making it a total of four Cingular Antennas in Calexico in order to provide its service in this border town.
Cingular will pay 3% per year on that lease and going up later on. Cingular will also pay for the construction of their antenna on First.
To sum everything up:
Cingular will have four antennas in Calexico and one will be located on First Street next to the Water Tower. The Cingular Wireless store will be located on the food4less area. |

Well, what can I say? These Cingular SOBs realized that they were headed towards a local collapse if they did not improve the reception of their wireless service. Existing Cingular customers can only hope that the First Street antenna will actually eliminate international roaming (MX TELCEL and MX MOVISTAR).
It took them over 2 years to finally cough up the money and install an antenna on the border. I don't know for sure if my bitching and complaining (along with others') and mailing regional managers had anything to do with the install news or if this was already part of the corporation's expansion plan, but they could have at least said they would fix it even if they were straight out lying to me over the phone.
Not this bullshit about turning off my phone to avoid any additional fees. I still hate these mofos with a passion and have no plans to renew my contract, unless they absolutely become the best wireless provider in the Imperial Valley, provide extended service into Mexicali and pay off my credit cards.

So when is your contract going to expire? I hope its soon so you can put your cingular phone to the trash can.
If i were you I will buy a Sprint. You will have NO PROBLEMS with them at all. They are the best. |

I have to add that sprint will merge with nextel so the reception in calexico will be so strong that cingular will not stand the chance!!!!! |

Yeah, but they're not going to merge for another year, or at least they said in their last press statement, and when that time occurs, their is no way to know what they will do. |
