I can't go a single day without seeing at least 3 cops in this town not doing their jobs. They are either at some girl's (not women) house hitting on them, or at St. Tomas shopping, or hanging out with some dude's they may know.
I'm tired of it. These guys have some ego's (I don't know why?) on them too and they are always staring at you no matter who you are, expecting you to get intimidated or something.
This topic is being formed with the intention of getting complaints about the Calexico P.D. or any other P.D. in the Valley that need's to make changes, so if you have any legitimate complaints, post them, and we'll compose a letter to the mayor, newspaper, whoever. Just as long as some changes are made, and these guys start doing their jobs.
Thanks. |

Regarding the Calexico P.D.:
1) They are always hanging around at Sto Tomas while on duty for a long period of time buying stuff, or hanging around with the merchants.
2) They can constantly be seen standing outside doors talking to girls who just turned 18. They will also be there for long periods of time. |

Is there somone higher up in the food chain to bitch to? I'm sure the sergeant uses complaint forms and letters as toilet paper. I'm all for this idea, but we should address the right people. The best we can do for now is document incidents and badge numbers. |

Yesterday, I was turning right, where I had the right of way, at a two way stop. I was on the street that did not have a stop. There was a cop at the stop sign of the street with a stop. As I was turning, the cop went ahead and missed me by about two feet. Instead of making a gesture, that he was wrong, or some kind of apology, he stared me down and mad dogged me as if I had done something wrong. I was actually worried that he was going to pull some bullshit and stop me.
I was also pulled over about a month ago, because I didn't have my seatbelt on. I did, of course, have it on, and after a few minutes of trying to intimidate me, they let me go.
Today, at about 11:00am there were four cop cars parked at Burgers and Beer's parking lot. They were all inside eating. I know they need to eat lunch, but I doubt they were all on their lunch breaks at the same time. Anyway, after bullshitting for a while in the parking lot, one of the cop cars threw a half donut out of the parking lot and peeled out down the street without stopping at the stop sign. Meanwhile, all the other cops were laughing their asses off, so it wasn't an emergency. I've seen these same cops, off duty, come out of Burgers and Beer pissed drunk and get in their cars and drive off.
All cops are not like this. I happen to know a couple really cool cops, here in Calexico. But, the ones that are like this ought to be reported and reprimanded. I just worry that if someone were to say something, that person might end up getting stalked, or something. |

About two weeks ago I was stopping by a friends house with a cousin of mine (He was driving). We noticed a cop was giving a ticket to someone, which just happened to be parked across my friends house. My cousin and I were still in the car making our own assumptions of what was happening. We noticed that this cop not only stared at us but actually stood there looking at us for while, he was like 15 ft. away...laughing and joking around we stepped out of our car, and to our suprise this ass-hole actually came up to my cousin and said, "Did you say something?" my cousin replied "no" then the cop said, "well it seemed like you did" then my cousin said "no, I was talking to her " then the ass-hole said.."well you look like you want to say something to me." with an attitude!!
we just looked at each other, like saying what da??
But if we would have gotten smart we should have asked for his badge number and reported him. cause he was actually in his face. trying to intimidate him. Stupid ass, now that I think of it, it gets me mad for not doing something about it!!! |

| You don't have to ask for the badge number, it's on his BADGE. It's always like 4 numbers so you can memorize it without him even knowing. If you'd told him anything he would have probably "found" a bag of weed in your car. |

What you people are refering to is called "Command Presence." It's a combination of stance, body language, speach and attitude. The whole point of Command Presence is to make you submissive. Whether you did something wrong or not. They act like dicks, you turn into jelly. They revel in the fact that they can tiptoe in and out of the realm of abuse because of this tactic.
The only reason cops are assholes to you is because you let them. What do most people do when they've been abused or harassed by cops? They complain about it to everyone but the right people. Well, complaining might get you through the night, but revenge will get you out of Hades.
A few months back, I got a Customs agent fired for harassing me at the border. What I would have given to see the look on his face when they canned him. Even better, to have felt the chill that must have shot down his spine when he found out it was because someone he fucked with decided they weren't going to put up with his crap.

One other thing I've noticed with the Calexico PD is that many of the officers like to skip stop signs and lights. You see, they have this little trick where they turn on their patrol lights for one second, pretty much to tell everyone around them to hold the fuck on, and then just blast on through the intersections.
Sure, there might be some times when they're notified of a 907A or 921P, but this can't be the case all the time. They're simply taking advantage of their authority. |

BTW, I know everyone wants to check it out, so here's a link to the official Calexico Police Department Web site:
http://www.calexicopd.org/
Here's their mission statement:
Mission:
It is the mission of the Calexico Police Department to provide service with honor and respect, to protect life, to enforce laws, and to perform our duties in partnership with the community thereby increasing the quality of life for all of Calexico.
Vision:
To increase public safety through community awareness and involvement,
To promote police-community teamwork and interaction whereby the police are responding to the needs of the community and the community supports its police department,
To reduce the fear of crime through community based policing,
To provide mentors to our community and its greatest natural resource, “the children”. |
