Sorry, but know one's really going to believe that your answers came directy off the top of your head. What's stopping you from searching the Web, Usenet, Gopher or even having an IRC client running on your machine while connected to #computers?

Let's start off with an easy one then.

From the command line in Windows, I am trying to ping my own computer (localhost), but it cannot find the host. What is my problem?

el christ i dont know the answer to yours, but i bet i can find out with some research. as for the other two questions, i can answer. it is almost impossible to access files on your computer without hacking(which i am not). The easiest ways to extract files would be through a boot up linux that installs into the ram. (KNOPPIX) Bypassing BESS is incredibly easy. It can not be done locally, but with a working CGI proxy. google's cache or something comprable.

One of the possible reasons is that the loopback mapping to localhost (127.0.0.1) in your 'hosts' file is missing.

The other could be that your TCP/IP stack is faulty.
