Imperial Center on Heber and 111

two questions guys, there's a new sign over at the north eastern corner of heber and 111 that says imperial center... what is that all about??

The second question is that theres a lot of dirt piles east of mccabe and 111, what is that all about???

Let me know if you guys know...

I've seen the Imperial Center sign as well, but haven't noticed the dirt piles. I'm guessing the Imperial Center is going to be an outdoor shopping center or possibly the long ago proposed factory outlet stores that were to be a little further south on the west side of the 111.

It feels like it won't be long before 111 is no longer a scenic drive through farm lands and turns into stream of cars through buildings with Clear Channel billboards lined up all along the expressway.

There's money to be made. F land preservation!

That Imperial Center is gonna be on the fields right next to the Imperial Valley Mall, where the hay stacks used to be. The developer said he's bringing like 3 big name stores, and some big name restaurants too. I'm guessing Best Buy is one of the big stores, since that same developer just finished a Best Buy center plaza in S.D. Right behind that Imperial Center, they're also going to build The Commons, which is another shopping center. Do we really need that many shopping centers?

So there you go, nothing planned for Highway 111. That same sign is on Dogwood, in front of the fields where it's going to be built.
