|

I recently tried getting out of my cell phone contract due to the horrible service that I've been getting for months now.
Their only solution? Buy a new phone.
I spent about an hour arguing with a supervisor, and then being that my contract was only going to last a few more months I decided to give up and just eat the cost.
However, what about those that still have around a year or more left on their contracts? What are they to do?
Then it hit me today, now I haven't tried this, and probably won't due to the fact that my contract is so near to being done, but what about a possible contract loop hole?
Most cell phone companies give you a two week grace period to cancel a new contract, so, what if you were to renew an old contract and then cancel in the two weeks? Could this possibly work? In theory it should. When you renew or create a new contract, the old one becomes void, so why wouldn't it work? |

| it sounds like a very good idea, but if it doesn't work, you'll be stuck with a cancellation fee (which should have been offered to you if you wanted to cancel), i have sprint, and i know that the fee for a cancelled contract is around $250. i still have one more year to go, and i must admit that my service is horrible, especially at home, not to mention expensive. these cell phone companies are sneaky little fucks, but im gonna look into your theory, who knows spic, maybe you're right and will be able to help a lot of people... |

It must be where you live. In CLX Sprint is the best way to go. |

I bet the way 'they' see it is the old contract only becomes void when your new contract becomes valid (2 weeks up). If you void your provisional contract then you resort to your old contract.
Loophole = Magic Bullet. |

|
|
I cancelled my Sprint PCS service because I was tired of overcharges that came in my bill each month. They did remove (most of) them each time after I called a service manager, but it was just a hassle. No fuss on the signal though, which was good all the way to parts of Mexicali. So I fronted the $150 cancellation charge; I had a year to go on my contract.
But now my office wants me to get a PDA/wireless phone type gadget. Can any of you tech-savvy people reccomend a wireless service and device? I don't care if its Sprint again, since the office would be paying for a set plan, as long as its good signal. What are you people using?
Thanks |

|

| I have a bit of information for all reguarding the ETF of $150.00 for Sprint. I did this yesturday and it worked for all three of my lines that I just cancelled (normall would have cost me $450.00). All you have to do to get out of your contract is tell them that you are moving to a place they do not cover, then they are obligated to waive the termination fee since it is them that cannot provide service for you. I called them yesturday to "update my billing address because I am moving." They asked where I was moving and I told them British Columbia. Because they do not specifically have network coverage in BC I would be roaming 100% of the time. I know it sounds crazy, but it works. Don't call them to cancell, make the call intending to update your address. I hate Sprint PCS and I feel as though I am redeaming myself knowing that other people can use this simple system to F*** sprint. Good luck all. |

I have Cingular and I hate it. I'm also looking to avoid the early termination fees that will total me $300.00. My contract ends in November, but there's nothing more I'd like to do than get out of this stranglehold ASAP.
The only problem I have is that Cingular is SBC and I just happen to have combined billing with both accounts. In fact, I also have Dish Network through SBC and SBC Yahoo! DSL on the same account. I wonder if I claim that I'm moving to an uncovered area, but only request my Cingular Wireless service to be cancelled, if that will be successful?
Even though they are still two separate companies, but I'm sure they'll be able to check across accounts for verification of address. I'm going to try it once I review my wireless contract. If there is indeed an escape from their service by "moving," then I will tell them I'm going to Mars.
BTW, did you really move to British Columbia? Didn't think so. |
