They will have a friends and family day on May 26th and the official first day of business is on the 27th. Do we qualify as friends here at C.com?

Don't lie. You can't wait to buy your chick a latte.

Is anyone going to complain about how Starbucks will force the local cafes to close down? Or how it will destroy the coffee monopoly in Calexico?

starbucks will definitely attract some sections of society such as the elite and other wannabes, but I don't think this place is going to overcome other shops that sell coffe for $1, $1.50. Maybe a place like "temptations" may be affected but not the other ones.

I don’t they will be affected. I have talked to the owner and he gets most of his business from people crossing on foot and field workers early in the morning, plus he does catering.

I don’t think people coming across on foot will walk across town for a cup of coffee and conchita.

That's just what we need: The Starbucks Conchita.
