OK, so I must admit that I haven't been keeping up with this story very well... but what are the pros and cons of the IID allowing San Diego county to use "our" water for urban use?
Who ends up losing? The IID, the farmers or the citizens of Imperial County? WTF?

| i believe it would be both the people and the farmers. unless the farmers get a kick-back for it. |

If the IID sells the water to SD, the Valley will make money.
Two problems arise: 1. Farmers will ask for compensation. 2. Who will get the rest of the money and how will it be spent.
You know the IID has some great schemes for the allocation of that money.
#1 on the list will be a huge skate park. |

Don't worry, it'll move back to the valley in a year or two. |

My dad is in the "agribusiness" he says that some farmers don't even plant crops anymore because i guess they get a certain amount of water that they can use, for being farmers i guess, but that selling the water they are given is more profitable than growing crops and harvesting and all that shit. I'm not too sure about the details but it's something like that |

Just like dot-commers, airline workers and everyone else... farmers need to move on and stop receiving government payments for their "losses." It's bad enough that they've been underpaying the hardest working laborers, fileros, now they're bitching about not making enough money?
I still see them and then offspring driving around in Escalades, Excursions and all those other gas-guzzling, air polluting, ugly as fuck vehicles hauling around their quads, dirt-bikes and cases of Bud Light. Seems like they've got plenty of dough. |

Fuck ranchers, can you believe the fucking government buys all the surplus corn they don't sell and just keeps it in a fucking storage. Give it the fuck away if you ain't going to at least sell, a lot of people are starving!
