I think I'm right when I say that just about everyone of you has had a haircut in Mexicali. You got your haircut in Mexicali because your mom took you there as a kid or because you're too cheap to pay for a haircut in the states by a licensed professional. Actually let me rephrase that: You go there because you prefer to pay less for your haircuts.

Haircuts in Mexicali are a hit or miss. It's tough to find a barber or stylist that gives you exactly what you ask for and when you do they somehow seem to be inconsistent. I used to hit the first one I saw after crossing the border, but ultimately ended up going into a building's basement for the right one. You knew when you found it, it was gold.

When the mushroom cut was in, I had to get one too. I know, peer pressure is a horrible thing, but it became so popular that they even added it on their menus (right below "flat top," if I'm not mistaken). At the time, I guess the cut was still new to Mexicali barbers, so they were still experimenting with it and learning the ins and outs of mushrooming hair. The first time I got mine one side was A LOT higher than the other, so by the time he tried fixing it ended up being one of Maromero's past hairdos. I was pissed, but what could I do? I was in Mexicali getting a haircut, so I paid and left.

I can't be the only one who's had some horrible experiences, 'cause I've seen some pretty jacked up cuts while walking the streets. Come on now, share your bad haircut stories.

I've found that to be true in the States too.

once you do find a good barber shop in mex, it is gold. you pay half the price, you don't make a waiting line, and usually it's a hot chick cutting your hair Afro!

Or you can just go to Cachanilla and play Russian roulette.

The only reason why I have my hair cuts in Mexicali and not in the U.S.A is because some genius here in the states decided that it would be a good Idea to make appoinments to get a hair cut.

What in the blue hell do you need an appointment to get a haircut.

Getting a hair cut is the only reason why I go to Mexicali otherwise I would never cross the line to go Mexico.

appointments?

Do you go to a beauty salon? Men get haircuts at Barber shops. Where you don't need appointments and they have Playboy mags while you wait.

I think the one he's talking about is the one owned by 2 men and is located on Adams Avenue close to Church's Chicken in El Centro.

there's this man they call "Siete Machetes" in Pueblo Nuevo and he'll cut you up in less than five minutes.......next...

Calexicans have made Emmanuel rich.

Personally, i just bought my clippers at walmart and learned to fade it up myself facing the mirror, i think numbers of peeps do this now. Replace the clippers about every 6 months with a new one depending on how much you use it. It'll save you some extra bucks you can use for a chavela or cover charges.

Anyone in Calecia (and I have met a few) that only gets haircuts in the US(unless he already has someone to trust) because he wants to be "expensive" or "classy" is an asshole, a lame example of an "American" wannabe brownie, making a big deal even about haircuts.
