There must be hundreds upon hundreds of ridiculous Mexican (or Latino) old wives' tales, urban legends, myths, whatever. You hear them all the time and people actually believe them. Why? Beats me, but you see people repeat them over and over again like a mutt who keeps sniffing his own butt, yet already knows it stinks.

The other day I saw a little baby with the hiccups. The baby wouldn't stop, so the mother ran to the room and came back with a wet piece of red sewing string and placed it on the child's forehead. Plop!

Needless to say the baby did not stop the hiccup action, but the mom swore it helped.

Ridiculous!

I am serious about the story. I was once told about a ladies' father who was in an isolated area and had a terrible toothache. Apparently, to get rid of the ache he was told that if you put, human shit, that right, on the tooth it would cure it. I guess the pain was so bad that this guy not only put shit in his mouth, but it was his compadres' shit!

I do not recommend this in anyway, but the lady who told me was very serious about it. Needless to say I went to the Dentist, who did not shit in my mouth.

this lady that works with me told me she has 14 brothers and sisters due to a mexican myth....

women back then used to "prevent" getting pregnant by letting a small tub of water sit under the moonlight for a whole night, then proceeding to drink a glass of it in the morning...it was said that they would not get pregnant if they did this everytime they had sex...

where do they come up with this bullshit?

Some girl I work with told me that she was having problems getting pregnant, and that she had a man rub her "matriz" or uterus and that the man said that her uterus was upside down and with a sobada he would put it back in place, there is no posible way for this to happen. She also visited her private doctor in the USA and he gave her a fertility pill, now she is pregnant and she sweras its due to the massage. RIGHT
