Who picks what religion will lead the prayer that meeting?
Didn't they take out the "one nation under god" part for schools?
Would that tell you something. |

Faith and goverment should be togheter and im now sure that the secular forces that are driven by quasi-instutions like the ACLU are being destroyed by acts like this."
That face is to represent the movement through my bowels that ocurred when I read that little bit of Rupert Murdoch inspired clap. Uuuuunnnggghhhhhh. Aaah, that's better.
Look RDude...
1. Go to the bookstore. Wait, there are no bookstores in Calexico, because none of you fools read (too busy watching smackdown). scratch that.
2. get on the computer that you are on, surf over to Amazon, and order a copy of the Constitution of the United States of America. Go in that bad boy, read it over and get back to me when you find God, Jeebus, or any other deity.
3. Once you've figured out that you're not going to find them in there, you'll realize that those dead white slaveowners actually knew what they were doing. And stop getting your talking points from Rick Roberts and Roger Hedgecock already.
4. Osama Bin Laden would love you. Love faith and government? Move to Saudi Arabia. They might cut your tongue off though.
Jeebus lousizus, this kind of thinking is what leads to people like Tom DeLay getting elected.
Out.

Cholo Taco, you seem to know a lot of me and I think you know me personaly or something.
First, I read more books than going to the movies every year and, in fact, im going to 5th Avenue books later today. I know what the constitution says. The city council meeting is not turning into a mass like some people say. Its only a prayer, that's it,Fin, Finito.
ACLU, those people are just insane. Let me tell you that those people are endorsing a group called NAMBLA whos mission is to make it legal for adults to have sex with children under eight! They destroy traditions like this High School in Hawaii in which in every graduation ceremony the do a prayer in which God in mentioned. The ACLU came in and force that school to stop doing prayer. A 40 year tradition was lost. The ACLU does not respect nobody. They want to take "Under God" away from the Pleadge of alligence and any type of religion away from government buildings.
The fact is that 90% of Americans believe in God regardless of their faith and when the minority (ACLU) comes and wants to dominate then we are turning into a socialist country. This is a democracy were majority rules, not were the minority can come and impose their beliefs on us because the majority does not impose anything on the minority. If want to pray, then pray or if you are not religious then don't pray. Its the decision of everyone to do what they want. But I tell ya, the damm minority is trying to impose and take over.
The Honorable Alex Perrone had laid down his faith and what type of values he will carry. So let the Prayer begin! |

And who broke Hawaii's tradition 40 years ago when they decided to include prayer in their high school's graduation ceremony? |

Noboby. They went with it but the ACLU broke it.
ACLU represent the secular forces that are trying to dominate but cannot afford to have their way. |

It seems like everything goes over your head...
What I am asking is, who broke the tradition of NOT having prayer inside schools in Hawaii?
Apparently there wasn't any prayer in schools more than 40 years ago in Hawaii, but someone decided it would be a good idea to start praying. Now, 40 years later, they are reverting to the way the ceremonies were conducted in the past and that seems to NOW be a problem with you and many others.
It seems as if it isn't your way, then it's a problem. |

I think that there is no place for religion in the meetings at city hall. Next thing you know they are going to blame all their inadequacies on the holy spirit. Hey, how about that attorney? |

Winning = City Council
Losing = Citizens of Calexico |

| I'll leave the issue of a prayer before Council meetings to the citizens of Calexico, but there are a couple of interesting facts to review. The US Constitution is silent regarding "separation of church and state" and that phrase isn't there. What the Constitution does say is that Congress shall not establish a religion - the Anti-Establishment Clause. The US Supreme Court coined the phrase of "separation of church and state" based on that clause. |
