Most Recently we went to the Band and Orchestra Festival at Southwest HS and i think the winning streak has come to an end, or at least has been shot in the foot, we didn't get the highest possible scores "superiors" like we acustomed to last year, instead we got three "excellents" which aren't bad, second best rating you can get, but not satisfactory, next orchestra festival is at Mission Hills in San Diego

We probably will not go to Mission Hills because we are going to equally suck over there like we sucked here Laughing

Yeah, main reason was the drumline, followed by the Tubas, and last (but not least) the woodwinds (especially the saxophones)...

yep, hear lots of good things coming out from the CHS band nowadays.

While I think very highly of Mr. Pond, I do believe the reform of the band was one that was needed.

Well it seems as if the band is back on top...they ( the senior & junior group) went to a Festival on Friday like the one at Southwest High, and got Unanimous Superior, which is the best possible score you can get. The Festival was at Mission Hills in SanDiego. The Band will go to Regionals next month in L.A. Ragionals is the equivalent as going to "state" in sports....

this is all after all the drama that's been going on with Mr. Lucas, the Band Director, he's stepping down from teaching band at CHS next year becuase he says he's had too much stress and the students (junior class) are basically assholes...He's also having a baby in September which he said will make it harder on him....so he's quitting......so long to the winningest band director at CHS in recent years......no offense to Pond but i think the band got more 1st places and awards in the three years that Lucas was here, than in Pond's entire career. However, alot of the credit does go to Mr. Rasmussen from De Anza....
