ABOUT LUCAS...does anybody remember last year's graduation ceremony? Dunno if you knew but many of the graduating seniors stood in opposition to Lucas because of the lack of attention that the teacher placed to the music program and the kids.

Additionally, my bro, my sis, and my cousin have all complained about his demeanor and the fact that he only goes 2-3 times in the week to CHS to teach. They have also mentioned he only picks out his best kids to perform at certain events, which leads me to think--where's the cohesiveness of the band???

I know nothing about the band's recent successes, but I certainly hope that these successes are either a reflection of Lucas' reform of the music program at CHS, or of Lucas changing his own ways and finally committing himself wholeheartedly to this group.

AS FOR POND, don't call him a traitor--CHS and its bureaucracy is to blame for his departure. Having been a student of his, I personally admire him as a mentor and as a friend. He helped me challenge myself on an artistic level, and I credit him as an integral part of the reason that I joined the UCLA Marching Band and that I continue to challenge myself on a musical level.

MUCH LOVE TO CHS AND ITS BAND. -D
