For those of you who like to try as many places as possible, you may have realized that there are places in Mexicali that are much better than in Calexico, but also bad service, crooks, and other shit.

My # 1 experience was at Samborns (Centro Civico)

The place is lovely; a sexy woman takes you to your table of choice but the food is usually microwaved, according to my two worst experiences there, and prepared from a buffet bar that seems to have only canned food. Besides it's usually more expensive than a place that serves decent food. If you are in the mood to have a delightful meal, avoid this shit giver. Only if you feel like enjoying a delicious dessert (surely not baked there) and/or drink, it could be a place to placate your sweetie.

Good Pick. I once went there to drink coffee, and considering it's called Sanborns Cafe, figured they would have coffee, but they didn't have any at the moment.

El Zarape.

Bad Service, unless you're a "narco."

Bad Food, unless you lack taste buds.

Bad Ambience, unless you're a chicalon.

Shitty waitress demanded that I tip her with bills, not coin, and to give the change to the guy outside. The food, service and ambience was horrendous.

Worst Mexican restaurant I've been to, with the second being Guadalajara's in Calexico.

I agree with you on this place and they take too long to get you your food, considering is mcrowave, at least half an hour if you are lucky.. I guess they are trying to compete with Dennys..

But. I don't know what is it about those "Enchiladas a la samborns" that I keep going back for them...

Villafontana Sushi

I couldn't believe the mediocrous attitude of one of the waiters; when I was almost done with the food, the crook comes to me asking if I wanted another soda ($15 pesos for a can of coca cola) I didn't really want to but hmm ok. After about 10-15 minutes the man comes back and tells me that he is sorry for the delay of bringing one miserable can and said that he was going to get it right away. I told him that I only wanted the receipt at that time and he responded that "but they are going to charge you the soda." Asshole. "You'll do me a favor by letting me bring the soda or the manager is going to call on me about this one." How come he charged the soda but forgot to bring it? Not in a mood to start an argument, I just accepted. Besides he served the soda to other people in a glass with ice and he opened the can in front of the customers while he barely went by my table and put the stupid can there.

One of the sad things about Mexicali is it's complex classicism that is in all levels including waiters. Maybe he acted like that because I wasn't formally dressed or because I didn't look fresita and that is something the waiters will often use as a reason to treat you in a certain way.

The Valley is notorious for shitty service and arrogant waiters, just like Mex, but go to a decent restaurant outside of the valley, and the service is god sent. And yes, you will always find bad restaurants everywhere, but the problem is that here and in Mex, people are used to taking shit from their servers, they do nothing about it, so it doesn't change.

Most other places, the customers won't let it stand. They complain. Management, realizing this is a potential lost customer, which means lost money (immediately and long-term), insist on better customer service.

I had a terrible time at Mandolinos, I entered the establishment with my wife and a family friend, we ordered drinks and an appetizer and finally our food. The appetizer and drinks took some time to arrive and at the same time my main course meal showed (odd) but no food for the ladies. I did what anyone else would and offered to share my plate with both of them and sure enough I picked at my plate, and so did they. At that point my waiter wisked the plate from under my nose and took it and cleaned the sides of the plate as you see the chefs on television do all the time and brought it back to another table!!! This a--hole gave my picked at plate to some other dude, I had a shit fit. not because they took my plate, but shit the other man did not know and he sure was enjoying the food until I let him know what had happened . Mandolinos always has treated me good until that day and I never returned.

You have to admit that people in the Valley don't tip very well either...which in turn, leads to shitty service...which in turn, leads to shitty tips...etc.
