true but now they are white and blue and they have been kind of the white color for a couple of years now...

also the diference between them is that the ones bought new in mexico say nationales and the ones that are used say frontera... theres also state wether its either for private or commerical use. Yes i do not live there anymore, but i was born and raiced there and i go back there once a month... so i just dont talk just for talking, i am also telling you what i see when i cross the border which i do often and know mexicali well...

and the mexican saudi issue.. people who are terrorist will try to enter the country by portraying themselves as mexican or what have you.... its always about the looks not what's inside when you cross the border... think about that next time you cross the border and they ask for your id... because last time i heard any one that is of middle eastern decent gets asked a lot more questions when they cross than when you or anyone else crosses the port... so yes apearance is what truly matters...

FYI:

Beginning January 23, 2007, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling by air between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be required to present a valid passport, Air NEXUS card, or U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document, or an Alien Registration Card, Form I-551, if applicable.

As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. While recent legislative changes permit a later deadline, the Departments of State and Homeland Security are working to meet all requirements as soon as possible. Ample advance notice will be provided to enable the public to obtain passports or passport cards for land/sea entries.
