The grand opening for the Imperial Valley Mall is almost here and to celebrate they're throwing together a premiere party with "lots of entertainment, dining and even a fashion show!"

You can count on Imperial Valley's most elite to be there, so... who's going? |

| Well Imperial Valley has a mall now. Well it is going fine right now but let's see if it will last. With unemployment a all time high here in the valley some wise guys decide to open up this mall. Yeah it created jobs but how much do they pay? Which store do you think will close first because business is not that great? |

About how many high school seniors in the Imperial Valley graduated this month?
Whatever the number, 95% of those staying in the county are going to be unemployed, so that only bumps up the numbers.
The other thing is, as with the national unemployment rate, these people who don't have a job are only kept track of for the six months they are eligible for UI. So that close to doubles whatever the unemployment rate really is.

How about some optimism, man?

The mall already had it's first casualty...it was a clothing store that looked a lot like Jerusalem's or El Vaquero. |

Rasheed's?
If so, at least it doesn't seem like they invested a lot of money in the store setup, since it was a cornered outdoor shop.
I wonder how the avestruz/norteņo shop is doing? It just seems completely out of place, where most people who go to the mall will go to shop the chain stores. It has to be tough for local businesses to do well in the mall. They have to step it up with the store setup/design in order to attract shoppers, which can be an expensive investment on top of their already large monthly lease payment.
Burgers & Beer seems to have done a good job. |
