I know it already passed, but according to the paper there were roughly 10,000 people at the IV Expo on Tuesday to look for a jobby-job at the Imperial Valley Mall Job Fair. From what I recall there will be about 2,000 jobs available.

10,000 people who want/need jobs.

That's a lot of unemployed human beings. Some are probably already employed and looking for another job, but that's still a lot of folks.

I wasn't there because I'm loyal to my clerking job, but I wonder what the ratios were with the following:

Imperial Valley citizen vs. Mexicali citizen
High school student vs. Adult
IVC student vs. Adult
Any student vs. Adult
Male vs. Female
Male + Female vs. Hermaphrodite
Straight vs. Gay
Gay (male) vs. Gay (female)
White vs. Black
White vs. Latino
White vs. Asian
White vs. Other
(mix the last four up to create more ratios)

I also wonder how many people called in sick to get themselves another job, only for their boss to fire them the next day as it was blatantly obvious.

I hope the ability to speak fluent English is a requirement for employment.

I can almost guarantee you these same people you refer to want the job more than a high school student looking to make some cash for their weekend drunkardness or to add a bigger wing on their Honda.

The People that need a job will get a job and it will cure some of the bleeding of unemployment.

So you're saying that 10,000 people will end up with jobs at the mall?

I can only hope. But that will benefit a lot of people.
