I don't know if im getting old or if the parade that just happend last saturday was not good enough. I don't know why but the community is less and less intrested in the parade and I saw that happening last saturday with low attendence from Calexico residents. On fourth steet, everything was good and people gathered there to enjoy the event.
Third street was another story.
There were not to many people on third street and that scared me. The community was not present like other years and that could have been caused by the lack of participants in the parade. Only 74 people marched in the parade and that didn't turn the public on. The parade was only one hour. I miss when it used to be two hours and hundreds of people gatherd to see the parade. I do think that there is a lack of publicity when it comes to the parade. I knew that the pararde was going to take place on saturday because i accidently read the newspaper. There is no hype. Nothing. Its not only a problem of this year because the year before there was no major annoucement about the pararde but people went anyways. Lack of publicity in 2004 and you see less crowds. Its only going to get worse.
I do belive that if we want to reload our parade we need to have the community participate and help to make the parade fun. Call people and tell them to participate. I would like to see Calecia.com participate next year.
Who knows. Its only my humble opinion. |

| If you wanted to see a cool X-mas parade you should of just crossed the border to Mex. Their parade this past Sunday night was pretty cool. Just having a parade at night is cool enough, and when you add all those trucks decorated with lights it makes it even better. Coca -Cola runs this parade every year and it gets better every time. I heard a "coctel de elote" vendor say that this event is even bigger than the "Grito". |

A parade at night is pretty cool but Calexico cannot do that for some reason. There should be a lights parade like the one in Yuma that was cute. But Calexico needs to do something to make their parade better or the parade will die soon |

Yeah, we're gonna have the biggest and best float at the parade. Better than anything you've ever witnessed in the history the Macy's parade.
The theme is all under tight wraps right now. |
