Anybody know when the SENTRI lane will begin operating in the CLX port of entry and when people can start the application process? I see that they're already installing the wires and all that but they've been doing that for a while now, and yet no sign of the actual machine being installed.

For those of us who don't know what Sentri is, what is it?

SENTRI= Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection

It's a dedicated commuter lane where prescreened applicants and vehicles are allowed to cross the border Northbound into the US usually more quickly and efficiently. The enrollees have been rigorously background checked and have been determined to be a low risk to the security of the US border. The system uses Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) technology to screen the driver and the vehicle every time they use the lane to cross. Each vehicle that is allowed into the program has a transponder that is attached inside the vehicle on the windshield, usually under the rear-view mirror. As one approaches the inspection area, photos and information are given to the inspector about the driver, passengers and vehicle.
How much does it cost to obtain a SENTRI pass?

The total fee is $129.00 per person. Here is a breakdown of the fees:

Application fee $25.00 (or $50.00 total for husband, wife, children)
Fingerprint fee $24.00
System cost fee $80.00 (or $160.00 total for husband, wife, children)

There are currently only SENTRI lanes in the San Ysidro, Otay, and El Paso Ports. Mexicali will be the 4th one.

Yeah what he said.

In TJ people who have SENTRI make about 5 minutes of line.

I take it that if you have a SENTRI pass and you bring along a friend who doesn't, you have to take the normal lanes?

If so, then do you kindly say, "Camina puto."?

Only the people registered to SENTRI can ride in the car. Also, the car and the person have to match or else they won't let you cross.

So yes, camino puto.

Don't count on it.

U.S visit will be effective on January and its going to be more time when you try to pass the the U.S by foot. U.S Visit wil only affect non-residents but it going to get bigger.......the line.

I think verbal is referring to the privileged few that drive cars.
