After the animalistic exhibition of total lack of control on the part of numerous ‘professional’ basketball players, I think the most shameful thing is how they’re being excused for their actions by fans, and especially the unions, who are trying to get one or more of the players’ suspensions lifted.

“Have you ever been in a hostile environment where you’ve been hit in the throat and had soda thrown on you?” I was asked by one of my friends in his attempt to justify the players’ behavior. This is an example of the kind of idiocy that promotes this behavior. Like when an NBA team wins, and the city riots and burns cars and businesses, rather than celebrating like civilized human beings.

OF COURSE THE UNIONS WANT THESE PLAYERS BACK ON THE COURTS!

The union is throwing themselves into this because they lose revenues from the players’ pay being withheld. It’s in their interest to keep the multi-million dollar salaries coming in. Just imagine the dues their loosing from five, maybe ten million in collective un-paid payroll. Maybe the unions ought to be held responsible for the behavior of the players too.

But what kind of example is that setting? The average fan doesn’t have ten percent of the physical ability of the average pro athlete. When one of these athletes comes off the field of play and attacks a fan in the stands, it’s like a lion jumping into a herd of sheep.

If a big strong athlete can’t take a harmless paper cup in the face without storming the stands, that player ought to be banned from the game altogether. Period.

There is not exuse for this incident. There were two other events that provoked fight in a football game. What a shame!

I forgot to mention that the first post is what a San Diego Radio Talk show host thought about the incident and I think he is right. (I think you notice it because of the perfect grammar) I do agree with Rick Roberts that this incident is a shame for professional basketball and sports in general.

Last night, David Letterman was talking about what happend and he basically said that this was Basketball and just that. Then Letterman blamed the fan for starting this incident. The bottom line is that both, the player and the fan, are to blame for this whole mess and the King of Late Night comedy was justifying it. I disagree with him.

David Letterman is the one of the many that want to blame just one person the beggining of this incident. The Truth is that eveybody is to blame for this incident.

Why are you trying to judge the fans and the players? You were not there, you have not heard both sides of the story, you have to listen to both sides and then you just leave it at that.

I am currently looking for a site where we can create some sort of fund for the families of those players who got suspended. We can not let there families starve because of a fan it is not fare.

Look Mars, I know you are being sarcastic about it but let me tell you this: I do not have to hear boths sides because I saw (with my eyes) and they both have the blame. The fan for trowing the soda and the player for attacking. Rember that two players stated the whole mess and then all hell broke away.

Dont worry about their families, the playersA LOT of money so they can live for a very long time.

The truth is that David Letterman is from Indiana and is probably a die-hard Pacers fan.

This is not about money or the union or anything like that. No matter if your a player or not you should be respected. The only person that should of contact the player physicaly was the player fouled. The fan got into the fight that was not his and for that he got his nose put out of the business where it belongs. You cannot alow anybody just disrespect you for no reason. Did the player do anything to the fan to provoke him? No. the fan was just being a B***H.
