According to Cushing Daily (Oklahoma), Tony Gwynn, of San Diego Padres fame, will be at the Calexico Wal-Mart next week as part of a Frito-Lay (Cracker Jacks) promotion.
"This will be the fifth stop. We went to Lake Whales, Florida right after the first hurricane because they wanted Tony to come out and kind of pick the area up a bit and give them something good to look at and feel about, and Tony was awesome there. And we went to Buffalo Tuesday, Cincinnati Wednesday, Iowa yesterday, Cushing today and we have Calexico, California, a very small area out by Arizona, next week," Pinkard said.
Anyone have any details? |

I hope he knows what he's getting himself into.
Unless, if its Fernando Valenzuela I don't think many people in Calexico will know who Tony Gwynn is. |

Dude, I know who Tony Gwynn is. $100 says even revramrod knows who he is.
Cholos probably know who he is too, but might attack him since they're not accustomed to a black man being in Calexico. Gwynn will need high security for this visit.
I wonder if Fernando Valenzuela will be staying at Hollie's. I know a few of the Aguilas stay there now during the winter league. |

| What, of course people know who Tony Gwynn is. You need to give people of the valley a little credit.. I am a chick and not really into sports and i know who Tony Gwynn is!!!! Actually i think sometimes people of the valley are a little more knowledgeable than you think, Especially because we were sheltered in this place we seek so much more to be exposed than people in bigger cities do, trust me! kinda like the country people with the big city lights in thier eyes are the ones who become huge actors!! But people from the valley have travelled all over the world, are learned, educated people who are exposed. We dont live in Wisconsin dude, We are only three hours from L.A. Okay. |

My comment was not directed at the "Valley."
