Electronic Music Night in Mexicali

I was thinking of maybe starting up an Electronic Music night in Mexicali. When I lived in Los Angeles, we had a night once a month was we would book a few DJ’s to spin Underground House.

I don’t know if there would be any interest in this. What do you all think??

There is a DJ by the name of Hipp E that is based out of San Diego, and he is coming to spin in Mexicali Nov 27. He spins Latin influenced House and is a pretty slick producer as well. I have seen him in Los Angeles a few times and was very surprised to hear he was coming to Mexicali.

So any opinions would be appreciated. Mexicali seems like such a Rock/Punk/Ska town so I really don’t know if people would be into this.

There used to be something in Mex at Arroyo Hondo?Ondo. It's going out towards the airport. I never went, but always wanted to. I don't know if they still do it. I'm into electronic music, as well. Post anything you find out.

this month of october i participated in a group art show in mexicali in an alternative art and music space called 'la casa de la tia tina'(the show ended last week i believe). they're doing these events every month, and how they're working them out is that the first day the event opens, they have an art reception, usually on thursdays, and the following day(fridays), they have a bigger party/event, where the focus is not only the art on display, but also the dj's spinning that night. in addition to the first two days, they open the space three or four other days during the month. this last event was their 3rd or 4th one, and since the beginning, they have been well attended- 300+

'Waca' is the guy organizing these events, and he's always open for suggestions and ideas to make this 'happenings' get better every time.

i participated with some art works/installation this month of october. i live in LA, so i was in Calecia/chicali only for the first week the event opened, which was the 1st week of the month. i meant to post the flyer of the event at 'Calecia.com', but i received it kind of late, and iwas really busy with the installion of my work.

by the way, i know one the organizers of this events , ruben, was also involved in the 'arroyo hondo' ones.

i dont know when the next event is, but i would guess around the second week of november. but definetely email 'waca' to the email address i wrote in a previous post(he is the one that answers them), and tell him that i (luis) refered you to him.
