Is anyone here using it?
I've had an account for a few months now, but really haven't used it. I just started testing it out today and the Web interface is very intuitive. The implementation of converstations is great. A little like threading, but a lot better.
The only problem is that it's all Web-based, but they'll probably be adding POP3/IMAP access in the future.
Overall, it is a very good free e-mail service with 1 GB of mailbox space. |

You do need to get an invitation to get a Gmail account.

Overrrated. I tried it for a minute. Fad. Google's going down soon. Froogle will be their demise.

This invite thing reminds me of that one episode of South Park where Cartman buys a failing theme park for his own enjoyment and doesn't let anybody in which pisses people off and when he finally allows people to enter they show up in the thousands.
Is google using the "You Can't Come" technique? |

No, Gmail is still officially in beta. They'll allow anyone to sign up for an e-mail account once it's gone gold. |

| I'm aware that it's in beta, that's what I was commenting on. Just pointing out that the invitation system is a clever way to build up hype and spread their service like wildfire. It's brilliant. |
