In the Imperial Valley Press Probe, there have been a few requests for help recently from families in the Imperial Valley who have unfortunately not found the means to financially support themselves and have to resort to third-party assistance. These families are in a tough situation where they cannot come up with the funds necessary to pay their bills and sometimes feed their families.
In return, they usually get donations from local agencies and the utility companies will postpone the due date(s). Help has arrived and they can continue with life hoping they won't have to experience this again.
Help usually comes to those who ask, but what about those families or individuals who don't seek assistance? Whether it's out of embarrassment or ignorance, they usually face the consequences when it is now too late.
What happens when the valley is overburdened with requests and it is not possible to help everyone? Is financial advice a better solution? Educating people on how to budget and live with their available income might be a better long term solution.
Financial hardships not only happening to the "poor." I've seen it happen to people with good jobs that start to frivalously spend their money and charge up their credit accounts. It can affect anyone. |

Its sad to see that happening here in the United States. Many people will ask for help because they have to. I have read that in the newspaper but never really thougth about it until you brought it out.
Im afraid that there are more people that need food or money in the valley, and in a future, there will be no help from them.
The valley lacks of volunteers and some people have taken a stand but its only the minority. If this trend continues, I believe that there will be no help in five years because no one will volunteer.
We also need to know why are those people in a financial hardship. What went wrong? If you have a hardship, why is the reason? We need to know who they are, solve their mistakes and then help them.
People need to volunteer and create groups to help those in need of financial and food necessities.
People need to go to their state representatives and ask them to help those people. People need to ask Bonnie Garcia or Mary Ann Andreas (who ever gets elected) to act and see what is wrong. The same goes to our congress representatives, Filner and Giorgino.
That is what needs to be done to solve that problem |

| I agree with you radiodude. I think government should be looking out for these people and helping them to survive and prosper. You also have to consider if this is a real problem or its just that five or six persons e-mail the IVP almost at the same time. |
